Personal Information

Prof. Hari Dutt Sharma is a Sanskrit scholar and poet of international repute. He received Master’s degree in Sanskrit with Gold Medals, diploma in German/Russian and D. Phil. degree from Allahabad University. He served Allahabad University as a teacher for four decades. On ICCR Chair he was appointed as Visiting Professor in Sanskrit Studies Centre, Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.  He visited seventeen foreign countries Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, America, Canada etc. on academic and cultural tours. He served as a member of the Academic Council/ Executive Council in 4 universities 6 times, Court member in one university and Expert for the UGC and ICCR multiple times. He was Vice-President of the 45th session, All India Oriental Conference. He is member of the ‘Consultative Committee’ , ‘International Association of Sanskrit Studies’.

Prof. Sharma received numerous accolades and Awards. Among them noteworthy are: ‘President’s Certificate of Honour’—2015, ‘Sahitya Akademi Award’-2007 on his book ‘Lasallatika’, ‘Maharshi Vyasa’ and ‘Kalidasa Puraskar’ by U. P. Sanskrit Sansthan and ‘Sauharda Samman’  by U.P. Hindi Santhan. His books are prescribed in courses in 8 universities and research on his books is conducted in 16 universities.  He has written 85 research papers and 15 books both creative and critical. 29 research works have been conducted under his supervision. 12 reviews and 17 review articles have been published on his books.  To his credit he has participated in 40 international conferences and 115 national conferences and seminars.
